My school is offering a course on Crime and Justice in London for the “Winterim” term. This course is from January 5-17, 2015 in London. A few of the things I will be able to experience, guided by an instructor at my school, are: a visit to the London Museum to learn more about Victorian London, attend a Jack the Ripper Tour that takes us back to 19th century London, tour the Houses of Parliament, visit the Metropolitan Police Heritage, Centre and the Tower of London, learn about Policing in the UK through local
experts. This class counts as a 3 credit elective towards my Master’s degree. It is my last semester in the Spring and this is my first and only opportunity to study abroad, even for only two weeks.
It will cost me $3650 for tuition and fees, accommodation, entrance fees, some meals, ground transportation, and health insurance. This can be paid for with my financial aid through school. However, this cost does not include airfare, most meals, and personal expenses. Airfare is my biggest concern as I can fund most of my meals and other expenses. It costs about $1000 round trip to and from London. I do not have that amount of money easily accessible. I will be applying for scholarships to also fund this trip but I also need some help from a few philanthropists.
I will also need to pay over $100 for a passport, as I do not have one. I have never been out of the country. I will be applying for this trip and will need to pay a deposit once I am accepted into the course. If, for some reason, I am unable to go on the trip, I will make sure that everyone gets their money back. I am also offering some rewards for different levels of donations.
I am applying for the program today and then will have to pay a $250 non-refundable deposit. Still need lots of help from some generous people.
